Plans For the Weekend

I know it's only Tuesday, and I am in the midst of some time off from work; but I seriously cannot wait until this weekend. Friday nite my fave local band, The Boulevard, is back in action! I'm excited! I'm hoping to get some people together and go have some fun! Thursday we're going to lunch with Tab in Abbeville at this restaurant called Shucks. Tab and Sean rave about their seafood. Saturday is going to be a crazy day because I have two baby showers to go to. They are roughly at the same time, so I'm going to have to make appearances at each. It's pretty cool because they are both for my friends named Amy who are both having girls! Amy Chavez is naming her daughter Addison and Amy Charpentier is naming hers Alexis. It's too crazy all the coincidences. But they are due a month apart so no chance of them being born on the same day!

So I thought it was time to add another picture to the blog since I haven't really been taking many recent pictures. This is one of my favorite pictures of me and Josh. It was taken at a charity event called Bash in the Parc that was put on by The Boulevard. We were being silly and my friend, Linda, wanted a pic of us. Josh was in the process of spinning me around which is why I look like I'm holding on for dear life to him! It was a day of tremendous fun. We got to see some really great bands including another of our favorites, Highlines. If you look closely, you'll see the guitarist, Derrick in the background! Bash in the Parc was a benefit concert for menengitis. It was such a great benefit and they were able to raise quite a bit of money. They are trying to make this an annual event so I look forward to next year! A whole day of great bands! How awesome!!

I talk often of the wonderful boss I have. This is Brenda and me for manager appreciation day. It was a sports theme event that the consultants put on as a way of saying thank you to our wonderful managers. It was a highlight for me because I got to wear my favorite Brian McCann baseball jersey to work! As you can see we both dressed the part of sports! As part of the party, the managers played games on a Wii. Brenda won first place in the boxing competition against another manager, Toni. We recently were able to watch the video of the hilarious day in a meeting. It was funny to see Brenda in action as she playfully pounded the air while trying to knock her opponent out!

This is another of my favorite pictures of me and Josh. Here we are all dressed up and ready to go eat at Emeril's restuarant. We took a mini vacation a few months ago with some friends. It was so much fun! We went to New Orleans for the weekend. We stayed at a suite in a hotel that could have passed as an apartment! It was huge! We really enjoyed ourselves. We had hurricanes at Pat O'Brien's. Then we went back to the hotel and six people took showers and three girls did hair and make up as we prepared for the nite out. Thankfully, no one blew a fuse! Emeril's was delicious! We had sooo much food! We even ordered dessert! Jennie and I both had the creme brulee and Josh had ice cream in three flavors. Joe went for the banana cake and Nicole and Dale shared this chocolate thing that was so sinful! We all took turns sampling each others desserts! The next day we went to the flea market and ate at Cafe Dumond. Then we made a pit stop in Tanger Outlet in Gonzalez and spent the entire day shopping! It was such a great trip, but Josh and I were both exhausted when we got home!!

Eagle Eye

So this being my first official day of vacation, I have to say that it was quite eventful. The day started off by Josh and I going to Michael's and buying a beautiful frame for our wedding picture. Yes, the picture is over four years old and we are just now getting to framing it. We just thought the frame would run us a few hundred dollars, yet thanks to my boss, we didn't have to spend a fortune! The frames were on sale!!! I paid $21 even with tax! So, now our picture is complete! The frame matches beautifully and looks gorgeous!

So then we went see the movie, Eagle Eye, with Shia LaBoeuf. This movie was incredible! It had everything in it! Emotion, drama, action! It left you wanting more!! The movie was so incredible that Josh and I both had to use the bathroom, but neither one of us wanted to get up in the middle of the movie! I swear it felt like I peed for hours afterward, but totally worth it! LOL

Then after the movie, we attempted to go look at some houses. I say attempted because after setting up all the appointments, we learned that you had to go through some kind of system in order to get in. The realator was kinda peeved himself, but he is going to set us up another appointment and let us know when we can go look. This is kind of fun! I'm just so ready to buy a house now. After the bar-b-que this weekend, we want to buy a house so bad so we can have the bar-b-ques and rockband parties!!

Bar-B-Que and Friends and Chipper

So, this weekend was a great one. For the first time in about a week, I was feeling better! Saturday we had a bar-b-que at our friend, Ryan's house. We had the greatest time. We bar-b-qued steaks and sausage and some pork rib thingys. I had the pleasure of making my famous roasted potatoes. The funniest part was when Ryan's roommate, Jason, walked outside and asked, "Who made the potatoes?" I raised my hand and he looked at me and asked, "Are you single?" To which Josh and I both replied, "No." Jason was disappointed and told us so and we all laughed. We had T.V.'s set up outside. One was on the Georgia/Alabama game and the other was on the LSU/Mississippi State game. After we ate, we decided to drive and get us daiquiri's. I had already had a few beers and a glass of wine. After we got back, we decided to play Rockband. It was the funnest! The boys kept trying to sing! Too funny. We had drums and two guitars. It was just a great nite.

Sunday found us at Eddie's house watching the Saints. We were all kind of tired from the nite before, but found the energy to cheer as the Saints actually beat the 49ers. The funnest part was we were all for the Saints except John. So you can about imagine the fun we had with him! It was a nice relaxing day. Tomorrow we plan on going to the movies or something. I definately know I'm sleeping LATE! LOL

So the last game of baseball for the Braves was played today. Very sad. I'm going to be so lost for the next six months!! We did receive some exciting news...Chipper Jones has won his first batting title!! He fought very hard last year but ended up losing to Colorado's Matt Holliday. This season, he took the title all by himself! Albert Pujols fought with him for a good while and even took the lead for a day. But then Chipper being the great ball player he is kept on hitting while Pujols kind of started sliding. I'm so proud of Chip for accomplishing this goal!! I know he's beaming from ear to ear know!!

Gotta Love Friends

So, it's finally another Friday! And the start of my vacation! I got off at four today, came home, and just enjoyed a nice relaxing evening of nothing. That was the best! Then my friend, Hannah, called and we talked for two hours! So now, I'm just relaxing and watching T.V. Josh informed me tonite that we are going to our friend, Ryan's, house tomorrow for a bar-b-que and to watch the LSU Tiger's football game. Yes, we are big LSU fans here even though my college degree is from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Last week, my good friend, Tab, called me to go over there and watch the game at her house. She lured me over there by cooking chicken lasagna. Yes, chicken lasagna. It was the best I had ever tasted. I need to get the recipe from her. And tomorrow, we will be bar-b-queing steaks and hamburgers I think. Plus we get to hang out with a lot of great people. Good times, good food, good football team...tomorrow's going to be the greatest!

The Grapes of Wrath

So, another week has come and gone. Tomorrow is Friday! It's about dang time! LOL This week was such a tiresome week. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE my job...but it can wear you out! I'm a training assistant for Stuller Settings. Stuller is a jewelry wholesaler. We sell jewelry to the jewelers that you buy from! I help train consultants to get on the phones. My second training class started about three weeks ago. I am fine with the training until the role playing begins. They take turns calling each other pretending to be consultants. The reason it wears me out is because I go back and forth and forth and back checking orders! There are 20 students in there...so you do the math for the amount of walking! LOL But I seriously would not trade this job in for anything else! It's so rewarding plus you get to meet 20 new people every few months!

I had dinner with one of my really good friends, Amy, tonite. It wasn't anything big...Chinese...our favorite. I just love getting together with my friends, eating yummy food, and talking for hours. That is what we did tonite. Amy is expecting her first child in December. It's a girl, and I could not be happier for her! A lot of my friends are having kids lately...Whitney should of had Colton some time this week (still waiting to hear back from her), Jennie had Holden at the beginning of the month, Katrina had Aerial in June, Amy and Summer are due in December, another Amy is due in November, and some others are due next year. It's crazy! But it has given me baby fever. Not that I want to try anytime soon...just thinking about it for maybe in a few years or something.

So, this is the last weekend of baseball. The Braves will play their last three games this weekend. It's bittersweet. I'll be happy when this season is over because it has not been a very good season for the guys at all. But sad because this year was such a good year for me baseball wise. I got to meet a bunch of the players past and present. Went to three games where we actually won...that NEVER happens when we are at the stadium! LOL Plus I just love baseball. Yes, I'm watching the playoffs. No, I'm not rooting for the Mets...bleh. I think I'll stick with the Angels since they have Mark Teixeira and the Dodgers...if they can pull off the division win. I know there's always football...but football's not the same. I love baseball. It's going to be a sad sad weekend. Plus I'm on vacation next week...so I'll be crying all week! LOL

Figuring Things Out

Ok, so I've done it. I think I have pretty much mastered this blogging thing. I've learned how to add things and add pictures. I really don't have much time to add a lot of pictures as I'm sure my cousins in other states would love to see...but I start my vacation in TWO days, so maybe then I will add more! Sorry, Amber, but I don't think we'll be making it to Oregon next month. I know you dearly wanted us to come visit. I promise one of these years, when I can convince Josh to get on a plane, we'll come visit. Maybe do a pit stop in Utah and see Rachel and the gang there! Who knows? LOL Well, as I said earlier...two more days until my much needed vacation. On a sad note...only three games left in the Braves' baseball season. I hate this time of year. It's so depressing for me. At least there's only six more months until the start of the 2009 season!!

Countdown!!

So, I have three days left to work before I go on my week's vacation!! Yes, I've been counting down since like 50! It's a much needed time off! I haven't had a significant time off since April! There's no big plans to go anywhere. And the house has just had a huge spring cleaning done to it, so I don't have to worry about any of those, "Oh, I need to clean," tatics...and never clean. I hopefully will sit and do nothing! Maybe if the weather is right, go borrow my nannie's pool! I do want to go visit my friend, Jennie, and baby Holden. Who knows what I will do or where I will go! I love to be spontaneous!!

Grumpy

So this weekend was kind of a drag. I have been sick all week long, so my weekend was no fun. But to top it all off, I got into it with someone. I'm really not going to get into details about what happened, but I can tell you I'm upset. It's frustrating when people just assume things about you. They don't get their facts straight and think they know everything. I'm not even sure how to handle this situation. I was kind of sick and drugged up on medication and said some things I probably should not have said. But then, there were things that were said to me that hurt my feelings. I was just defending myself. I hate immaturity.

On a brighter note, I just got a job doing the jewelry for a bridal party! Guess I should tell you my side job is a jewelry maker. I got into making jewelry about a year ago and absolutely love it! It's pretty cool to have side money to spend on what ever you want! I do all kinds of things. I've recently gotten into crystals. They are really really pretty and accent a lot of things. I love to take these weird shaped pearls and add a crystal every few beads. It makes it sparkle and just really stand out. I did a bridal set for my cousin's wedding. Her dresses were orange, so we took these peachy orange pearls and accented them with orange crystals. Really really beautiful! I'm trying to get some kind of online thing going so people can place their orders. One of these days I will get organized enough to do something! I even want to start a catalog or something so people can have pictures to look at. Here is one of my necklaces that are most popular. Pearls seem to be everyone's favorite. They are in high demand and I cannot seem to keep them in stock!! Let me know if you are interested!

Guess You Deserve to Meet My Husband

So, I told you guys earlier that I am married. Here's the hubby...Josh Doucet. We've been together for over seven years now. In June we celebrated our four year wedding anniversary. It's so hard to believe that four years has passed by already! He is an assistant manager for Walgreens. He works a very crazy schedule so we try to spend as much time together as possible. He really is a wonderful man who tries his hardest to keep me happy. I must say I am rather spoiled. I can usually talk my way into getting just about anything I want. The latest purchase? My new car! I was driving a 2004 Toyota Highlander...however...with these outragous gas prices, it was costing me an arm and a leg and part of my other elbow just to keep gas in that thing! So in January of this year, we traded in the gas guzzler for a 2008 Honda Accord. It is such a beautiful car. I absolutely adore this car! It drives very smooth, and I look so stylish in it!

I have a beautiful niece, Keira. She is the joy of my life. She will be two in December, and I'm having a really really hard time accepting that! She is growing so fast! I'm trying my best to be a good aunt and spoil her rotten. She is quite the character though. It seems like she is always learning something new. I'm still not sure if I'm ready for one of my own...although we are leaning towards the idea of it...but Keira is enough for me to know that I absolutely adore little ones! This picture is of us at our cousin, Missy's, wedding. She was quite a handful!! If you look close enough, you see her cute little bruised nose. She took a nose dive on the concrete! Poor little thing!!

Rumor on the Street

So, the rumor on the street is tomorrow is Friday. Thank goodness! I don't know if I could do anymore work days after tomorrow. My boss needed me to come in early today to grade papers...yeah, just like a school teacher! So that means tomorrow I get off a half an hour earlier. Well, because she is the world's greatest boss...she's allowing me to come in early again tomorrow and get off at 4! So, yeah, I'm stoked. To get off early on a Friday! Woo hoo! The best is that I work next week, then have a week's vacation! I'm so ready for it!

Well, I guess I should mention the fact that I have an obsession with Atlanta Braves baseball. I have been following it since I was 12. My husband, Josh, and I try to go to Atlanta once a year. We were fortunate enough to make two trips this year. We went in January for fanfest. That was the ultimate dream for me! I actually got to meet some of the players! My favorite alltime is Chipper Jones. I did not get to meet him unfortunately...however...when we went back in April, I had the extreme pleasure of meeting my second favorite player, catcher, Brian McCann! The funny part was I met him in a bar!! I have to thank my Georgia friend, Andy, for introducing us!!
So, there will be more stories to come. For now, I'm going back to the Braves game. I know this season is a bust...but I still love to watch my babies! I'm still hoping for that one season when we get back to our winning ways!!

The Start of Something New

So, I'm new to this whole blogging thing. It's short and sweet for now until I have more time. I really enjoy keeping diaries and blogging on myspace so I'm pretty sure this will be a treat. Let me start by saying my name is Nicki Doucet. I live in Broussard, Louisiana and absolutely hate it. If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be Atlanta, Georgia. I absolutely love that city. I am married for four years now. No kids currently, but may start working on that soon. I have a great job that recently gave me a promotion to Sales Training Assistant. Guess I should tell you I work for Stuller Settings. Made three years there on the 12th of this month. The Assistant job is the one I spotted when I first started and am utterly thrilled to be doing now. I absolutely love my boss. She is the greatest and truly spoils us. I am very fortunate to work Monday through Friday 8:30-5:00. Every now and again my boss lets me work early and leave early. I am VERY sarcastic! I say what's on my mind and it tends to offend people sometimes. You'll notice it in here...don't worry. I guess you can say I have that crazy sense of humor. It sounds funny in my head until it comes out my mouth! Well, that's about it for now. I'll try to come back on later and figure this thing out. Hope you enjoy my reading!!
