Rachel Visits!!

So, in case you didn't know, Rachel, is one of my many many cousins.  She lives in Utah so I never get to see her.  Well, she came down this past weekend and I got the pleasure of having her stay in my house and be the first person to use the guest bedroom!!  I must say, it was so awesome to share my house for a night.  The night started off great with me and Josh meeting up with Matt, Lynn, Rachel, and Steven at Saketini, my favorite sushi restaurant.  I was rather proud of my cousin, Steven, for trying sushi.  He got the Who Dat roll which consisted of lobster, cream cheese, and some other things I can't remember.  It was really good.  After we ate, they came back to my house and I gave the grand tour.  Then the others left and Rachel and I stayed up until four in the morning talking and catching up!  Yes, 4 AM.  I was tired as hell the next day, but it was so worth it.  I have missed her so much and was so grateful for the time I had with her.

I have also found a cure for my blahness.  My faith.  I must say I haven't been the best Catholic in the past decade.  Josh was starting to come around with his faith again, and I guess he either prayed hard enough, or it rubbed off on me.  I like to think it was a little of both.  We started going to the church in Broussard, Sacred Heart.  It's a little different for me because there are three priests and a deacon who rotate saying mass.  I grew up where it was the same priest every week, so I'm still trying to adjust!  But the priests there are awesome.  The pastor is Fr. Louie.  He reminds me of someone, I just can't point a finger on it.  I love the simple fact that they are always in the front of church every mass and they shake your hand and make you feel so welcomed.  I adore Fr. Edward.  There is just something about his sermons that just touched my heart and really sparked my faith again.  This one simple sentence from him pretty much did me in:  "Faith is not a given, it is a gift."  I can't explain it, but after that night, the gift of faith returned to me.  About two weeks later I made an appointment with him for confession.  I hate to admit this, but it had been ten years since I went to confession.  I was waiting for him to start scolding me, but instead he just smiled and said, "Praise God, you're here.  Welcome home!"  I will never forget that moment.  He was not judging me at all.  He was simply happy in the fact that I had returned.  It really touched me.  And while I know I'm not perfect, I feel more at peace about things in my life.  I'm happier and calmer and ready to face the world!  I look forward to going to mass each week; especially the ones I know Fr. Edward will be saying!  It feels good to have this fire in my heart again.  I hope it never leaves me again!

In Desperate Need of Inspiration...

No, I'm not going through a depressing stage...just kind of bummy.  I feel like my life could be better, I just don't want to wait for the better part to get here.  I want it now!  Haha.  I just kind of need the right words on inspiration and wisdom to hit me and get me motivated.  But until that happens, I can share a little with you about what's been happening.  Sidney is doing real well and we just love her to pieces!!  She was recently baptized and Josh is the godfather.  It was a beautiful ceremony.  Here are a few of the pics of her and me:
Notice the tiny bracelet courtesy aunt nee nee!!

Jennie.  She is the closest thing I have to a sister.  I adore her!!  She's my rock!!

Sidney and me at the Mall of Acadiana in Baton Rouge.

Also, recently, I attended the absolute greatest concert ever:  NKOTBSB!!!  It was New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys together!  NKOTB was my absolute fave growning up!!  They were like the Justin Beiber of my middle school years!!  One of my really great friends, Amy and her sister, Summer and I went.  We had the greatest time!!  We left with no voice and no hearing for a good while!!  We jumped!  We screamed!  We danced!  We sang!  We loved it!!  Here are a few of the pics I got.  We litereally wore ourselves out!  We had plans on going out after, but were so wiped out after, we just opted for waffle house and then home!!

I designed these shirts for us!!  They came out so great!!

I call this our "cheesey happy" picture.  We just had the best time!!

New Kids performing.

Hanging Tough.  The song Amy and I waited the whole night for!!  Of course they make this the very last song!!

Jonathan Knight.  He was my favorite!!  He's still shy and cute!!  My heart did a flip when he got this close!!

New Kids and Backstreet Boys introducing each other.

The end of the concert.  What a mess!!

Me and Amy!!  I adore her!!
Waffle House.  Tired as hell, but still beaming from the great night!!

This night almost surpassed the night the Braves won the wild card last year in Atlanta.  Almost.  It was that good!!

She's just a doll!!  I love her to pieces!!

Boring is better than Drama...

Yeah, Rach, I stole that from you!!  So, to add insult to injury...I'm attempting to go back to school to become a teacher, but life keeps telling me other wise.  I didn't pass the Praxis test so now I'm not so sure what to do.  I'm at a cross roads.  If by some miracle, I can take a test and pass before July, I may still have a shot of getting into school in the fall.  Please start praying now!!

Blogging for the Blahness...

So, I really want to try to be better at this blogging thing.  I know Rachel really enjoys hearing from me but she probably has less than hour to catch up on my life!!  Haha.  Not that my life is all that glamorous!  I pretty much get up, go to work, feel crappy because I feel like I can do better with my life, go home, sleep, do it all over again.  Nothing too exciting has been happening lately.  I'm patiently awaiting June 25th for the simple fact that my phone contract can be renewed and I'm in love with the Iphone 4 in white!!  My Iphone 3G is starting to crap out on me now.

I'm watching the Bachelorette right now, and I must say I am totally creeped out by the guy who is wearing a mask.  I understand his point, but it's still creepy.  The passed out drunk guy, Tim, is snoring on the couch...that is hilarious!!  Yeah...he's going home!  I'm totally in love with the guy Ben from New Orleans!  One, he's totally hot, two he's from my state! and three those cue cards won my heart!!

Well, here's a post.  Not much going on.  I'll try to do something exciting and post about it!!  :-)

The Greatest Trip Ever

This isn't the greatest pic quality wise because it was taken from my Iphone, but it will forever be the greatest memory of mine.  In case you had no idea, I'm a HUGE Braves' fan.  I've been following the team since 1990.  David Justice was the first player I fell in love with when I was 12.  Chipper Jones was called up three years later, and seventeen years later he's looking like he'll play one more season before retiring.  Well, the guy who managed these two, Bobby Cox, decided that this year was going to be his last.  He's the guy being hoisted up in this picture.  Now, if I can dry my blurry eyes for a second, I can let you know about Josh and I's latest vacation trip to Atlanta.  It has by far been the greatest trip ever!

So Bobby tells us at the beginning of the season this is his last one as the Braves' skipper.  That prompts Josh and I to go to the last two games of the season because we just knew they would do something special for Bobby.  Bobby was the manager back in 1978...the year I was born!!  He managed the Braves' until 1981 when Ted Turner fired him.  They made Bobby the General Manager in 1985 and in 1990 he decided he needed to be the manager again.  And manager of the Atlanta Braves has been his role for the past 21 seasons.

Just how hard is it to let go a man whom you've looked to like a grandfather-figure most of your life??  Yeah...that hard.  The Braves got me through the hardest part of my life--the teenage years!!  haha  We were very fortunate this year to go to the games we went to.  The Saturday game ended up being the tribute to Bobby Cox given before the game.  It was amazing!!

Players from Bobby's past all gathered together to honor the greatest manager baseball has ever seen.  It was the ultimate privilege to be a part of this!  My favorites like, Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux, Javy Lopez, Fred McGriff, Mark Lemke, and Marquis Grissom were a part of the tribute.  They also had historical players whom I had heard of, but never saw play:  Sid Bream, Phil Neikro, Dale Murphy, Clarence Jones, and Hank Aaron just to name a few.  It was just spectacular, jaw dropping, and just breath taking.  The hardest part was getting through Chipper's speech.  I could relate to everything Chipper said about Bobby and the things he accomplished as a manager.  I totally lost it when Chip started to choke up.  How could I not??  The greatest thing about my childhood was coming to an end.  And to think:  I have to do this all over again when Chipper retires--which is probably next season!

The utmost special moment for me:

David Justice breaks apart from the crowd to walk over to the dugout and hug Chipper.  My two favorite ball players ever.  I remember Chipper's start to his career.  David took him under his wing and helped him to be the greatest third base switch hitter baseball has ever seen.  Well, in my eyes anyway.  This was such a tender moment for me to capture.  To watch my two favorites reunite and to still show the love and respect for each other.  Yep, I cried buckets.

So, what better way to end this beautiful memory for me??  We go to Sunday's game.  The Braves were fighting for a chance to make it to the playoffs this season.  We won Sunday's game which meant that we needed the San Diego Padres to lose in order to clinch the Wild Card spot.  This was absolutely the greatest day ever in Atlanta!!  Ok, maybe second greatest considering what I just blogged about!  But after our win, we stayed at Turner Field for an REO Speedwagon concert.  To me and Josh they were not all that entertaining, but Atlanta sure seems to love them!  So after what seemed like forever, we went down by the dugout with about 1000 other fans who stuck around to watch the last three innings of the Padres/San Fransico Giants game.  The Giants came through for us and beat the Padres, which meant the Braves were in the post season for the first time since 2005!!  We watched on the jumbotron the guys celebrate in the clubhouse underneath us.  Then after what seemed like forever, they ran out on the field and celebrated with us!  David Ross, our back up catcher, sprayed us with beer!!  It was the best!!  We were chanting, "Bobby!  Bobby!" and the team lifted Bobby on their shoulders!!  It was like a dream come true!  To be in Atlanta...on Turner Field...celebrating a playoff spot with my boys!!  It was truely a moment I will never forget!  Here's a few of the shots of the celebration!!  Even though we got knocked out of the playoffs by the Giants in round one, this really was my favorite season ever!!

Brian McCann and Rick Ankiel

Our Skipper hugging Jason Heyward (RF)

The guys running onto the field from the clubhouse underneath us.  Brian and I made eye contact when he first came out and started screaming at each other!  It was priceless!!

               Our crowning moment!!

Booyah!!! Shake It Off!!!

So, I thought of a funny story to share.  My best friend, who is like a sister to me, has a two year old that I basically consider my nephew.  I adore Holden to pieces!!  He is so smart for his age he amazes us all!!  Well, for the first game for the Saints this season, we were at their house watching the game.  Holden was on a massive sugar high playing with his trains.  This boy is obsessed with Thomas the Train!!  On a good play, I said the word, "Booyah!"  Didn't scream it...just said it.  Holden goes nuts yelling, "Booyah!!" and throwing his toys around.  He would yell, "Booyah!"  throw a toy in the air and then yell, "Shake it off."  Now, shake it off is something i technically taught him.  One time he stubbed his toe and looked at me like he wasn't sure if he should cry or not.  Kids usually mimic you, so I told him, "Aw, you're ok.  Shake it off."  to which we both laughed.  Then a few weeks later while we were in New Orleans, he threw a train in the air and it hit Josh.  When Josh said, "OW, that hurt," Holden told him, "Shake it off, Josh."  The car exploded in laughter.  So now, back to the Saints game.  His "Booyah!  Shake it off!"  was making us laugh like crazy and Jennie told me that if the daycare called tomorrow to tell her that he got time out because he hit someone, then told them to shake it off, she was coming after me.  A few days later, Jennie called to tell me that Joe (her husband) was so mad at me.  I asked why and she said that Holden had hit him in the nose about 10:30 at nite and yelled, "Booyah!"  Joe tried to fuss at him and said, "Why did you hit daddy?"  To which Holden replied, "Shake it off!"  I was mighty proud of my boy when Jennie told me the story!!  So now, everyone flinches when he yells "Booyah!"  You never know who he's going to swing at!!

So, Josh and I are preparing for our anual trip to Atlanta again!!  I'm so pumped!  The manager, Bobby Cox, is retiring this year after 25 wonderful years with the Braves.  I am so excited that we will be at the game where they are honoring Bobby for all his accomplishments.  I'm hoping to see quite a few of the older players from when I was younger.  I am particularly hoping to see David Justice.  He's the reason I'm a Braves' fan.  I'll fill you guys in when I get back on Tuesday!!

Tomorrow I am playing hookie from work (not really...I got permission...but it's fun to say that!) to go to Westgate where Jennie works and observe some teachers.  It's part of the class I am taking.  So I basically get to live the life of a teacher for a day!!  I'm so excited!!  Wish me luck!!

Catching Up...

So, like my cousin, Rachel, said...it's only been a year since I've blogged.  I apologize right away...but it's doubtful anyone even noticed I stopped...right??  Haha.  So much has happened in a year.  I did go from loving my job to being really unhappy.  That has led me back into college.  I am going to get my teaching certification!  I'm excited.  I've always wanted to be a teacher.  I'm just sad it took me 12 years to figure that out!!  I'm hoping college the second time around is a lot better...so far, it is.  My teacher is awesome.  I feel at peace with this decision and although it's a little overwhelming, I know it's for the better.  I also managed to build a house with my husband!!  It's absolutely gorgeous and as soon as I can get pictures on this new laptop, I will post them.  We've been here for four months now and absolutely love it.  The neighbor hood is so peaceful.  I still walk around this house in awe that I actually accomplished this.  My best friend, Jennie, had a beautiful baby boy, Holden, who is now 2 and just like a nephew to me.  Jennie is like a sister to me, so I get the privilege of having him call us Aunt Nee Nee and Uncle Josh.  I think it's adorable that he calls me Nee Nee.  Makes me feel so special!!  He is obsessed with trains!!  Like, really obsessed...This summer we took two mini vacations with them to Baton Rouge for a weekend and New Orleans.  We had the best time!  I'm looking forward to many more vacations with the Kidds!!  Long story short...I'm still alive...finally able to blog...and just having the greatest time of my life!!  Hope everyone else is doing well!!  Now, it's time to go and read everyone's blogs and play catch up!!!

Guess Who's Back??

Blame this sweet baby for the resurrection of my blogs!! So, I know it's been a life time, but my home computer for some odd reason does not support Google, therefore, I was not able to blog. And how I've missed it!! So, to catch you up, I am back in college working on my teaching certificate. Yeah me!! The one thing I learned is that college has sure changed in ten years!! You now need a laptop to keep up with everything!! So, I finally broke down and got one. Of course, I had to personalize it to my taste...hehe. So, I'm extremely exhausted right now, so I will blog later, but I just had to come and say hi to everyone!!

Blahness...

So, I'm having one of those months where it just feels like I'm just going through the motions in life. It's like everything is in slow motion and I cannot get ahead to save my self. I don't know how to put things into words, but I just feel blah. Lately, I find that I'm just not as happy as I used to be. I don't want to go into drastic detail or anything, but I feel lonely. I'm just aggravated, depressed, sad, frustrated, angry, lonely, bitter, resentful...all in one. How do I get myself out of such a funk??

It's Been A While...

So, I have pretty much picked up my cousin, Rachel's habits and have become a bad blogger. That's life I guess...hehe. So much has been going on, it's crazy! Work has been pretty hectic...which I take as a good thing! They have been keeping me so crazy busy I honestly don't know how I've managed to stay alive! The fun part is I've made a friend at work who loves Braves' baseball as much as me! It's so cool to have someone to talk to about the games. We even do this thing where we "predict" what is going to happen each series before the games are actually played. It's interesting to see how close we come to having things actually happen. Like one series, I predicted that Kelly Johnson would hit two homers. Well, if you're following the Braves, you know Kelly has been benched. It just so happened that this particular series, Prado was hurt, so Kelly played and Kelly hit two homeruns that basically changed both games! My friend was pretty impressed with me. But he calls some pretty good shots too. We should have kept points to see who comes closer at the end of the season...

As for me, I've been good. Josh is getting over the shingles. It sucks. He took a trip to California with a friend last month. I'll have to post some pics on here...he got some very beautiful scenery pics. Family is good...house is good...work is good...I am good...but tired. Off to bed I go...

Maw Maw

What a week! I got a horrible call last week from my mother saying that my grandmother was in ICU with pneumonia. I was in tears as she told me about how they rushed her in almost losing her once. I drove in to New Iberia on Sunday to go see her. She may not have looked her best...but who can with tubes running all over the place, but she sure was in great spirits. Her face lit up when she realized I was there and that made me so happy to be there. My grandfather just wanted to get to her to hold her hand. He even pushed my sister out of the way to get to her! It was heartbreaking. Margo and I were fighting back tears as we watched them look at each other. Fortunately, Maw Maw took a turn for the better and got out of ICU. I went see her Friday nite and she looked so much better. She lost a lot of the fluid she had retained and looked like my Maw Maw again. It hurts me to think about now how little I see her in my busy crazy life. She was like a second mom to me when I was little and my mom had to have surgery right after I was born. I guess there's a connection between us that no one else shares. At least I like to think so. We all have our connections, and that ones mine. I wish now I would have stopped in more to visit. It hurts that it took her to get into the hospital to just stop and even say hello to my grandfather on the way back from a friend's house. We had went eat with some friends in New Iberia and even though it was late, I still made Josh stop since the lights were on. I went to check on Pa Pa to see if he needed anything before bed. He said he was fine and Travis, my cousin, was going stay over. I love my grandparents so very dearly. We take for granted that they will always be there.

Today I found out one of my good friend's from high school's dad passed away. I was good friends with the family, so I knew Mr. Herman fairly well. My heart goes out to William in his time of grief. I'm sorry this blog is kind of sad, but it's been that kind of week. As sad as I am for Mr. Herman, I'm very grateful my grandmother is doing better. I hope she comes home soon. And I will make better efforts to visit more often.

Yes, I'm Alive

Ok, so it's been a while. My motherboard crashed on my computer, so I was without one for about a month. Then when we received the new one, for some reason it would not let me log onto this thing! Finally, tonite I was able to log in after struggling to reset the stupid password. Ugh. What a nite. But, in case anyone was worried, I'm alive and kicking! Things have been pretty hectic here too. Work is keeping me extremely busy and for that I am eternally grateful! I'm very lucky to have a job in this sluggish economy! I promise when I have time, I will post pics to catch everyone up! My friends and I had a Twilight party last nite. It was a blast! We decorated in red white and black and silver for the theme. Had the apples and the candles and blood. Hehe. We started the movie at the exact time of twilight for us so it was pretty cool. Baseball is almost under way! I'm super excited! I've been watching the USA play in the World Baseball Classics. Chipper and Brian made the team. Unfortunately, Chip got hurt so he went back home, but I am rather proud of Brian. We got knocked out tonite in the semi finals, but at least we fought. Now it's just to get ready for April 6th!! So, short update on me. I'll post later to catch you up on everything!

Hey, Rachel, You're Not the Only One to Get Snow!!

So, yeah. We awoke Tuesday morning I believe it was to a beautiful sight...SNOW! Now, why do you ask do we find this fascinating?? Because A) I live in LOUISIANA and B) I haven't seen snow since I was like 10!! Josh woke me up at like 6 in the morning screaming, "It's snowing! It's snowing!!" What a sight! It was just so beautiful!! Here's some pictures...

Of course, it only lasted until the sun came up, but it was just the most beautiful thing I've witnessed in a while!! Now this week...it's in the 70's believe it or not!! I actually had to turn the air conditioner on in the middle of the nite last nite!! Go figure...

A Horrible, Horrible Night

Well, things have been going pretty well for me lately. I've been partying it up with friends...having girls' nites...rockin' with the band...etc. This past weekend my friend, Ryan, had a birthday. We started the nite at Hooters and ended up at his house playing beer pong. I'll write more about it later and post pictures...I'm too depressed now to even think about fun.

So you guys know I'm in love with the band, The Boulevard. Well, tonite, I log onto facebook to find a note from my guitarist, Josh, saying "So Josh quit the band." I was staring at the note dumbfounded when I got an email from him saying to call him. I think he saw I was on and knew what I was thinking! So I called him and we talked. It's true. He quit. I'm really really bummed. I freaken love this dude! He's just truly talented. The good news is he is working with another band where he's the lead singer and I'm really psyched about that because this boy has an AMAZING voice. So, I'm going to try to hold myself together and be patient and wait for him to book a show. I can't wait to hear him sing again. It's been a really long time since I heard him. It's just depressing....

STUD MUFFIN...TWO F'S

OK. SO I HAVE TO SHARE THIS STORY. TODAY AT WORK, I TOOK A CALL. EVERYTHING WAS GOING LIKE NORMAL UNTIL THE PART WHERE I ASKED WHO I WAS SPEAKING TO. THE MAN'S REPLY? "STUD MUFFIN." TO WHICH I RESPONDED WITH, "ARE YOU SERIOUS?" AND WE BOTH LAUGHED. THEN I ASKED HIM HOW TO SPELL IT AND HE STARTED, "S-T-U-D..." THEN KILLED HIMSELF LAUGHING. I AGAIN ASKED WHO I WAS SPEAKING WITH AND HE AGAIN SAID, "STUD MUFFIN." I TOLD HIM, "SIR, THIS WILL SHOW ON YOUR INVOICE...DO YOU REALLY WANT ME TO CREATE THE NAME STUD MUFFIN?" HE LAUGHED AND SAID, "SURE, WHY NOT? I'VE BEEN CALLED WORSE." I THEN ASKED IF THAT WAS ONE F OR TWO. HE SAID TWO. WELL, THE NEXT PART IS WE ARE SUPPOSE TO SAY, "OK (INSERT THE NAME OF CUSTOMER HERE), WHAT CAN I GET FOR YOU TODAY?" SO YOU CAN IMAGINE MY HORROR WHEN I MEAKLY SAID, "OK, STUD MUFFIN, WHAT CAN I GET FOR YOU TODAY?" I TRIED HARD TO COMPOSE MYSELF, BUT I COULDN'T HELP IT...I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF! WE BOTH LAUGHED FOR A GOOD MINUTE. THE CALL WENT ON AS NORMAL, BUT I JUST COULDN'T BRING MYSELF TO SAY, "THANK YOU FOR CALLING, STUD MUFFIN!!"

Girls' Nite out with The Boulevard

Yeah for girls' nite out! Or something like that. My fave band, The Boulevard, played at Shakers again Saturday nite. A bunch of coworkers and I went and had fun. It was suppose to be a girls' nite, but we had a few guys show up. It was the greatest nite! I have found that I now LOVE Southern Comfort! I drank that and coke all nite long! Then Gaflin bought me a shot of Goldslaugger. Now, one nite waaaaaaay back when I was younger, I had TEN shots of that stuff in one nite. Yes, it found it's way out of me and into the toilet. From then on I had not touched the stuff until Saturday nite. But don't worry...it stayed down this time! LOL Here are a few random shots from throughout the nite and some of the people that came. In this photo, we have Paolina, Gaflin, Kim and me.

Brooke showed up later that nite...

The nite's not complete unless I get a shot of me and my girl, Tab!!

Josh and me

I really don't care for this pic, but I just wanted to show how much fun we had! Me and Gaflin jamming to The Boulevard!

Funny story about Josh...the band was playing "Left Alone" which is one of my favorites. I pointed at Josh and yelled at Kim and Gaflin to watch him. Well, Kim thought I said, "Take lots of pictures of him" and that's exactly what she did! It was too funny. She took a good 12 or something pictures of just Josh. I about died from laughter when I saw all the pics of him and she said that I told her to take them!

This is Josh's stick drawing of the band. From left to right: Josh (with the sunglasses), Tab, Matt, and Sean. And yes, Josh even autographed it for me! He told me he would sell it to me for a dollar...but being the sweetheart he is...ended up just giving it to me. I think it's cute!

So there was this poor sap who was getting initiated or something and had to run around in a banana suit...it was hilarious!

Quick shot of the band...and Josh in his sunglasses...

The next day, one of my best friends, Jennie, baptized her little boy. We have adopted Holden as our nephew, so he calls us Aunt Nicki and Uncle Josh. He is just simply the cutest thing!!
